The head of East Nusa Tenggara Workers Union, Stanis Tefa, said on Monday that there were still many workers who received poor salaries, far below the minimum wage in the province.

The East Nusa Tenggara administration has set the minimum salary at Rp 1.5 million. However, he said many employers do not follow the rule and there are workers who only receive Rp 300,000 to Rp 500,000 per month.

Stanis said that local administration has been absent from supervising the implementation of the rule by not allocating any funds to monitor the implementation.

“This has been happening for years, and we have not seen any progress on it. There are thousands of workers who experience this in the province. If the government and the Regional House of Representatives strictly implemented the rule, workers could get their rights back, especially regarding the minimum salary,” he said. (wit)

Pekerja di Kupang Masih Menerima Upah di Bawah Standar

Kepala Persatuan Pekerja Nusa Tenggara Timur, Stanis Tefa, mengatakan pada hari Senin bahwa masih ada banyak pekerja yang menerima gaji rendah, jauh di bawah upah minimum di provinsi.

Pemerintah Nusa Tenggara Timur telah menetapkan gaji minimum Rp 1,5 juta. Namun, ia mengatakan banyak majikan tidak mengikuti aturan dan ada pekerja yang hanya menerima Rp 300.000 hingga Rp 500.000 per bulan.

Stanis mengatakan bahwa pemerintah daerah telah absen dari pengawasan atas pelaksanaan aturan dengan tidak mengalokasikan dana apapun untuk memonitor implementasi.

“Ini telah terjadi selama bertahun-tahun, dan belum ada kemajuan terkait hal ini. Ada ribuan pekerja yang mengalami hal ini di provinsi. Jika pemerintah dan DPRD ketat menerapkan aturan, pekerja bisa mendapatkan hak-hak mereka kembali, terutama mengenai gaji minimum,”katanya. (wit)
